Banished

So, I'm downstairs in my room, I'm not allowed to go upstairs because Traci is trying on her wedding dress with her friend Darya and I can't see her dress, so I am banished to the lower level of my house.  I am so excited to get married!

Tomorrow night we are doing Today is the Day again, which I will be leading for that portion of the worship service.  This time, we'll be a little more practiced up, plus I gave our drummer a CD of the song so that should make it go better.  It went awesome last week, so this week it should be killer.  It's funny that I'm such a hardcore believer in being practiced up for worship, especially for a new song, and God worked things out to where we learned that song before service last week.  Taking me out of the comfort zone.

You guys need to be ready for this album coming out:

From what I understand it will be a free download that day from his website.

P.S.  The National League is gonna clean-up this All-Star game!

Native America

So we just got back from a pow-wow that my tribe had.  In case you don't know, thats when a bunch of Indians (Native Americans) get together and dance and eat lots of food.  It was a pretty good time, except for the fact that it rained most of the time we were there.  Traci got to meet my mom's side of the family so that was pretty cool.  We also got to eat some awesome Native American cuisine.  I tried to get some good pics with my iPhone, but you can't really tell where we are from them

.
So this was on the restroom door of a gas station on the turnpike... kind of odd?
This is when we were under a shelter waiting on the rain to die down.
Looking at the dancers, but you can't really see them in the picture.
My beautiful bride-to-be and my parents.

Breaking it up with a brand new song

So this is my first time doing the Creative Chaos post, but I thought it to be worthy this week.  So last nite I had the privilege of leading worship in our youth service.  This was not the first time I have had to, usually I just lead one of the few songs we do each week, but this week the girl that usually does it was gone, so I filled in.  Usually I lead from acoustic and we do some old stand-bys, which works great.  However, this week I decided to break out the electric and try to do a new song.  I tried to get a rehearsal earlier in the week, but it seemed to not work out so much, so I thought, "you know, I think these guys can handle this".  The song we learned, in literally a matter of minutes, was Lincoln Brewster's new single, Today is the Day.

So once everybody showed up to practice before service, I said hey let's check out this new song, played it over the system, and then we played through it ourselves a few times with some chord charts I had to make because of the song being so new.  It worked out great, the drum parts and chords are really simple and the melody and lyrics are awesome.  In fact, it turned out to be one of the better songs in our set.  So all in all, we broke up our pattern of acoustic-driven worship and plugged in some electricity, and also introduced a literally brand-new song.

I have to give all the honor to God, because when I first heard Brewster's new single, I thought that we could do it eventually.  Then, I felt God was saying this week.  So, naturally I wanted to have the rehearsal, but it kind of fell through and couldn't happen, then I ended up with some sinus trouble and was debating even going to church, but just like God, he took care of everything and it ended up going really well.  Lesson learned: always trust in God, as elementary as that sounds, it proves difficult sometimes.

The Day is Approaching

So, we are almost a month from the wedding.  Things are going pretty good, we have got a lot of things done, and still have a lot of things to do.  We have our honeymoon booked finally, we went with Travelocity and now have a week's worth of San Diego sunshine to look forward too.  I am so pumped to kick it in a sweet hotel with my future wife!

Our invitations arrived from WalMart.com, they are going to be pretty sweet, postcard-style.

Today my sinus's are killing me, I drove back to work after lunch and on the way I thought my head might explode from the sinus pressure.  So, in the parking lot of ABB I called my boss and told him that I probably could not make it standing and packing boxes the rest of the afternoon.  So, I came back home and have been taking it easy, I hope it gets better because I have the privilege of leading worship at LIFT tonite.  We are going to try out that new Lincoln Brewster single, Today is the Day, I think it is easy enough to pull off and maybe get those students amped up for God.
